Research Stations and Maps

Most research cruises visit predetermined stations on the Rhode River. The stations are labeled R0, R10, R20, R30, R40, R50, and R60. The maps below show their locations.

R 0: SERC Shoreline
Steps from the Reed Education Center, sampling opportunities along the shore and off the dock. Depth: 0-1.5 m; Bottom substrate: sand.

R10: SERC Dock
Out on the water, feet away from SERC's dock. Depth: 2-3 m; Bottom substrate: mud.

R20: Camp Letts
Near Camp Letts between Sellman Creek and Whitemarsh Creek. Depth: 2-3 m; Bottom substrate: mud.

R30: Mid River
In the cove between Whitemarsh Creek and Cadle Creek. Depth: 2-3 m; Bottom substrate: mud.

R40: Canon Bay
Nested in a cove opposite the mouth of Cadle Creek, surrounded by agricultural land. Depth: 2-3 m; Bottom substrate: mud.

R50: Mouth of the River
At the mouth of the River. Depth: 2-3 m; Bottom substrate: sand.

R60: Chesapeake Bay
Depth: 2-4 m; Bottom substrate: mud.

R10: SERC Dock. Depth: 2-3 m; Bottom substrate: mud. R 0: SERC Shoreline. Depth: 0-1.5 m; Bottom substrate: sand.
