We are open to the public from 9am to 4:30 pm
Monday through Saturday, with the exception of federal holidays.
Your last boat should be pulled from the water by 4:00 pm.
> Look no further for a place to launch your own canoe or kayak to explore the Rhode River estuary. In addition to the guided Saturday canoe trips, SERC allows visitors to launch their own non-motorized boats from the dock. Feel free to explore during our hours of operation.
> Upon arrival, please check in at the Reed Education Center. Please read the "Rules and Regulations" below for self-guided trips.
> SERC provides a complimentary canoe trail map brochure for self-guided exploration. These materials are available at the Reed Education Center upon check-in.
> Groups larger than 5 people, organized groups and outfitters are required to call in advance, 443-482-2388. Send an e-mail to mcdonaldk@si.edu.
> If you do not have your own canoe or kayak, you must register for a Guided Tour in order to participate.
SERC Education leads guided canoe trips along Muddy Creek for the whole family. Sign up for one of these 2-hour tours and learn about the ecology of Chesapeake Bay wetlands. Find out why fish and crabs depend on wetlands and how scientists study this type of ecosystem.
Trips are usually scheduled every Saturday from April through October, from 9am until 11:30am. See our calendar of events for trip schedule.

Costs: Groups up to 8 people: $120 min
Groups larger than 8 people: $14/adult, $7/children 13 & under, first 5 adults free
