Planning your Field Trip
To help you organize a field trip that is a great experience for the students, the parents or other chaperones, and for yourself, we've provided the step-by-step information for planning your field trip to SERC.

RAIN OR SHINE! : SERC's education programs run rain or shine. If weather predictions indicate severe weather conditions, contact Jane Holly at (301) 238-1815 to discuss the status of your field trip.

Planning a virtual trip to SERC:
Is your school too far from SERC or do school guidelines make it hard for you to organize another field trip? Every year, thousands of students get a look behind the scenes of sciences with our Distance Learning videoconferences and Electronic Field Trips.

Teacher Manuals and Student Workbooks
The Education Department publishes several teacher manuals and a student workbook to support teachers participating in our education programs. Though written to be used in conjunction with the activities at SERC, the manuals and workbook are a source of information and activities related to Chesapeake Bay ecology and environmental research that may be of interest to other teacher. Visit the education publications section to see an overview of available manuals. Some are available for free and others for a small fee. (All teacher manuals are free for teachers who have registered for a SERC education program).

Professional Development
SERC offers professional development opportunities to help educators incorporate the latest information related to SERC research into their curriculum.
