Thalassiosira rotula |
Cells may range from 8 - 55µ in diameter. Usually seen in loose chains held by thick, multiple threads coming from a
cluster of central strutted processes. Considered to be a temperate species but is actually cosmopolitan. Differences between T. rotula and T. gravida believed to be temperature dependent thus indicating the close relationship of the two species. See Horner and Tomas in Taxonomic References.
