Biddulphia alternans syn Triceratium alternans

This Biddulphia species was collected off Carrie Bow Cay and from Twin Cays lagoon. This species secretes a mucus pad from one of its angles, the elevated points above the body so that it can attach itself to a substrate or to a daughter cell in order to form a chain. Variation in shape of the protruding angles is common. Sizes range from 36 to 60u long and 32 to 45u wide. Average total volume is 9.1x10⁴ cubic microns. (Tomas)
