Ceratium ranipes

C. ranipes is a small species with very striking characteristics. The body is rugose with thick spines along the body, the antapical and apical horns. It is best known for its palmate fingers spreading from both apical horns. The body is 50-60µm in length and 105µm wide. Tropical to sub-tropical and usually rare. This sample was collected with a 20µ net tow along the forereef at Carrie Bow.
