Pyrocystis lunula syn Dissodinium pseudolunula

Dividing cells with two successive cyst stages followed by dinospore formation (see Horner in Taxonomic References). Preservation has distorted one of the cyst stages. This is a tropical oceanic dinoflagellate, neritic and cosmopolitan. Cells are bioluminescent. More information with second photo.
