Striatella unipunctata syn Fragilaria unipunctata

Cells above showing typical pattern of radially arranged chromatophores. Size 50um wide, 64um long, 10um height, total volume 32000 cubic microns. Easily identified in wet mount slides. Can be seen in zig-zag chains. Common and abundant in warm temperate to tropical waters, the ones above were collected off shore at Carrie Bow Cay, Belize. It is also found in the lower portions of the Chesapeake Bay.
