Thalassiosira species

The chain of two has a thin spindle-like tubule connecting them to each other. It is only faintly apparent (See arrows). Many Thalassiosira species are held together by these thin tubules and are frequently identified by the number and thickness of these connecting structures. Unfortunately, the connections here cannot be seen clearly enough for species ID.
