Phacus tortus (from live sample)

Phacus tortus is broadest in the anterior area of cell and tapers off into a spirally twisted posterior end to form a straight cand pointed caudus. Cells average 38-52µ in diameter and 85-112µ long. Sample was collected in the outflow area of the Georgia Pacific paper plant on St. John's River in March 2003.
