Lithodesmium undulatum

Usually seen in chains. Cells are 35-68u in diameter. The valve is triangular with undulating margins. The connecting membrane can be pronounced showing the undulating wave of the valve margin. In live samples a thin, hollow spine can be seen through center of valve. Species is neritic in southern temperate waters. See Cupp in Taxonomic References.
