Copepod nauplii

Early stage of Calanoid copepod, probably Eurytemora affinis. It is one of the most common copepod species in the Chesapeake Bay. These are a very important species in the Bay's food chain. They feed on diatoms and other plankton, and in turn are food for fish. They are also a favorite food of sea nettles.
