Chaetoceros laevis

Usually found in short, 3-4 cells, chains. It is a neritic tropical species. Fairly rare. "Hustedt (1930, p.718) suggested the possibility that C.diverus and C. laevis belong to the same species . . . . Resting spores have not been found for either, so a decision can hardly be made yet." (Cupp) Collected near dock at Bocas del Toro, Panama.
