Chaetoceros contortus

Size 6-22µ wide and are joined in long, straight chains. Many of the setae apear thin with thicker undulating spines intersperced along the chain. Frequently confused with C. compressus. See Cupp and Horner in Taxonomic References. Collected from the lower Patuxent River in fall of 2002.
