Psuedonitzschia fraudulenta syn Nitzschia fraudulenta

This species can be seen as individual cells or in long chains. Size 4.5-6.5µ wide, 64-117µ long. Collected May-June, Oct-Dec from the Patuxent River and Main Bay area.Occasionally seen in the Rhode River if salinity is high. This is a cosmopolitan species that is found in coastal regions as well as oceanic. See Horner in Taxonomic References.
