Gyrodinium dominans - ventral view

This mixotrophic dinoflagellate is moderate to large; up 40µ in length and 30µ in width. Chromatophores are absent. Cytoplasm is often granular. Injested dinoflagellates, diatoms or other particules may be seen. This is a euryyhaline species. See Campbell in Taxonomic References for more information.
