Characium limneticum

This sample was collected from the outflow pond of the Georgia Pacific plant on St. John's River, Florida. Cells average 5-14µ in diameter and up to 110µ long. Generally epiphytic on SAV's or larger algae and microfauna, but can become planktonic. See Prescott in Taxonomic References.
