Julio Lorda-Solorzano - Marine Invasions Lab

Universidad de Guadalajara; Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico

I am a Biology undergraduate from the “Universidad de Guadalajara” in Mexico.  This summer as an intern at SERC, I have been working at the Marine Invasions Ecology Lab on a project examining coastal invasions. We survey invertebrates from bays on both coasts of the U.S. in order to measure the frequency of invasive species, and invasive and biodiversity patterns in fouling communities.

Also, I have been working on a personal project measuring the effect predators might have on fouling communities in San Francisco Bay.

I think the SERC internship program is a great working experience for undergraduate students and has given me new perspectives for graduate studies after college.
