How Much History Can We Glean From The Trees? A Comparison of Current Forest Composition in Former Pastures and Corn/Alfalfa Fields at SERC.

I conducted research on current forests that have re-grown from former pastures and corn/alfalfa fields here at SERC.  The goal was to see if similarities and differences could be determined from current vegetation (over-story and under-story trees, vines, shrubs, and ground cover) between and among several plots of each type of past land-use.  I studied the species, size, and condition of all sampled vegetation to create a possible tool to help with future back-casting projects.
