Sunset Canoe Excursion
Paddle at sunset on this unique tour to introduce you to the marshes of Muddy Creek as well as the research conducted here at SERC. This trip is designed for beginning and intermediate paddlers. Basic instruction will be given at the start of the program. Cost is $12 per adult and $6 for children 6-12 years old, limited to 16 participants. Preregistration and payment is required by calling (301) 238.2737. You are not officially registered until we receive your payment. Refunds are not given unless there is a family emergency or an extenuating circumstance.

Canoe Excursion
Paddle along the shores of Muddy Creek and the Rhode River to learn about one of the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. We'll look for wildlife, birds, reptiles, and more. Learning About Ticks
Ticks are a major concern all around the Bay. This is your chance to come learn about different types of ticks and the myths and realities behind these persistent creatures. Cost is $4 per person.

Lost Towns Archaeological Dig Day
SERC is partnering with the Anne Arundel County Lost Towns Archeological team to help history come alive by learning about our colonial past and participating in a dig on the Contee Farm property. We'll start at SERC with a brief talk, then we'll journey to a dig site where you will be trained to help sift colonial artifacts with the dig team. For ages 12 and older. Cost is $15 per person and includes a light snack. Pre-registration is required by calling (301) 238.2737, limited to 20 people.

Introduction to Blue Crabs and Crabbing
Blue crabs are integral to the natural and cultural history of the Bay. We'll also learn about the three C's including the natural history of Crabs and the research that is being done at SERC on crab Conservation. Then we'll try our hand at Crabbing off the SERC dock. Trail Trekkers: Learning Plants on the Trail
Join us for this fun outdoor series which will be an introduction to discovering life on forest trails. Suggested for ages 8 to adult. August 13th- Medicinal Plants on the Trail: In the final program of this series we'll learn to identify native plants and trees by their bark and leaves, how to use a dichotomous key, and the medicinal qualities of these plants. Cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple and includes three programs (in the 3 part series) and a magnifying glass for the trail. Pre-registration is required by calling (301) 238.2737. Drop-ins are accepted if there is space, $8 per person drop in fee.

Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Workshop
ROVs incorporate science and technology to help researchers gather information about the underwater world. In this workshop you will be introduced to ROVs their form and function. You will then be working in teams to design and build an ROV to test and try out underwater. This workshop is designed for ages 12 and older, and requires pre-registration (301) 238.2737. Minors ages 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $25 per person or $45 per couple, limited to 12 people.
