| 9 | CANOE EXCURSION
All Ages

Paddle along the shores of Muddy Creek and the Rhode River to learn about one of the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. We’ll look for wildlife, eagles, shorebirds, reptiles, and more. This trip is designed for beginning and intermediate paddlers. Basic instruction will be given at the start of the program.

| 16 | SPIDER PHOTOGRAPNY SURVEY

Help us survey the spiders of SERC using cameras. We’ll start with a short introduction to the different varieties of spiders and then go out into the field to take photos. Please bring your own digital camera and a way to share your images such as a card reader, cord, or memory stick. This event is free, but suggested for ages 12+. This is not a how-to photography class, but a field survey of spiders and requires at least a basic working knowledge of your camera.

| INTRODUCTION TO NATURE DRAWING FOR CHILDREN, USING LIVE BAY ANIMALS: PENCIL, PEN, AND INK

Children will be introduced to basic drawing, shading, and light and dark techniques used in nature drawings. We’ll then try our hand using a live specimen, either plant or animal. For ages 8-15. Preregistration is required. Go to www.serc.si.edu and click on the public calendar. There you will see the specific link to register for your class.
