| 1 | CONTEE WATERSHED TRAIL HIKE

Location: Reed Education Center

Come join us for a hike through the new watershed trail and to the new overlook. We’ll look at native plants and wildlife along the way. Hike is approx. 1 mile over moderate hills and inclines. Suggested for ages 8+. $4/person. | 8 | CANOE EXCURSION
All Ages
Location: Reed Education Center
Start: 9:00AM
End: 11:30PM
Paddle along the shores of Muddy Creek and the Rhode River to learn about one of the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. We’ll look for wildlife, eagles, shorebirds, reptiles, and more. This trip is designed for beginning and intermediate paddlers. Basic instruction will be given at the start of the program. Cost is $14 per adult and $7 for children 6-12 years old; limited to 16 participants. | 15 | SMITHSONIAN SCIENCE ON THE BAY FALL FAMILY DAY

Location: Meet at Schmidt Center
Start: 10:00AM
End: 2:00PM
SERC is hosting two smaller events this year, spring and fall, in lieu of the larger Open House. Join us this fall for a day of discovery about the research conducted at SERC, from the forest canopy to the underwater world. There will be research labs with displays, hands-on activities such as crabbing, seining, and kid’s crafts, as well as crab races. Additionally we'll have a search and rescue dog team demonstration and you can learn all about trail safety. This event is free but you must pre-register for a front gate pass to drive on site.
