EVENING LECTURE SERIES: ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH INTO STORM WATER RUNOFF: THE SELLMAN CONNECTION
Evening Lecture
Location: Schmidt Conference Center
Start: 7:00PM
End: 8:00PM
Speaker: Dr. James Gibb
This illustrated talk examines ongoing research by SERC's Citizen Science in Archaeology program at the Homestead House. The research team has documented activities that occurred around the house in the 1830s and early 1840s that resulted in erosion of soil and artifacts, and the re-deposition of that material onto a small terrace. They also discovered a site used by pre-Colonial Native Americans more than a meter underground. Jim Gibb is an archaeologist with over 35 years of experience. He has published numerous articles in professional and general venues and a book titled The Archaeology of Wealth. He recently co-edited The Archaeology of Institutional Life, published by the University of Alabama Press.
