For the Public

The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center is both a research facility and an environmental education & outreach center. There are many opportunities for visitors to explore the grounds and attend a wide range of programs. Please see our Public Programs page for ways the public can visit SERC.

Hours:

Our trails and education grounds are open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9am to 4:30 pm. We are closed on Sundays and federal holidays.

SERC hosts visiting scientists, fellows, and interns who come to the center to participate in research. Visit our research labs for collaborative research opportunities, or the Professional Training section of this website for more information about internships and fellowships.
